Children begin by using 10's strip, as they place a seed on each black dot.

When the strip is full, they put those 10 seeds in a nut cup and place it on the first space on the watermelon, which will be marked 10.

They continue filling the strip and putting the seeds in the remaining 9 cups. When they reach 100, all nut cups will be dumped into a clear 4 oz. container. Use as many clear containers as you need for the amount of seeds your watermelon contains. These clear cups can be placed above the watermelon. For the amount of seeds, you will count all hundred's containers, all remaining 10's containers and any seeds remaining on the 10's strip.
